Be present, slow down and explore the benefits of Yoga

In a world where we seem to be continuously set on fast forward, it has never been so important to slow down, take a breath and be in the present moment. This is why Yoga can be an incredibly beneficial tool for resetting back to basics.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOGA?

There are heaps – in fact so many that I won’t be able to explain them all in 1 blog but I will touch on the main benefits. Firstly, yoga will improve your mind, your body and your life – there we go. Sign me up!

When practicing Yoga, you’ll build lean muscle, improve balance, increase flexibility and lift your fitness. Yoga will also leave you feeling calm and centered. Science shows regular yoga classes will ease anxiety and stress, improve sleep and recovery and help you feel more positive and happy - which is incredibly important during a time of uncertainty.

On top of this, yoga drains your lymphs and boosts immunity which is brilliant in the current climate we all find ourselves in. Now is the time to be as healthy as possible.

When you contract and stretch muscles, move organs around, and come in and out of yoga postures, you increase the drainage of lymph (a viscous fluid rich in immune cells). This helps the lymphatic system fight infection, destroy cancerous cells, and dispose of the toxic waste products of cellular functioning.

If you have trouble sleeping then this could be an easy fix for you. As Yoga can provide relief from the daily struggles of the hustle this provides downtime for the nervous system. Sleep is one of the key benefits of yoga that nearly every practitioner can experience no matter what their skill level.

CAN I DO THIS AT HOME?

The best thing about this practice is that it can be done at home, or the park, or a space where you feel comfortable and you do not need equipment – just your mat.
